The City of South Salt Lake was originally settled in 1847 by Latter-Day Saints pioneers. Nearly a century would pass before this small tract of farmland along Mill Creek and the Jordan River would be incorporated as South Salt Lake.

Promise South Salt Lake is an initiative of the City of South Salt Lake which provides dynamic, highly specialized community and out-of-school-time programming with academic and prevention focus at 14 neighborhood centers throughout the city.
