Volunteer with Promise SSL
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Promise South Salt Lake! We accept volunteers starting at 14 years old. 14 and 15 year olds generally require a parent or guardian to be present. 14 - 17 year olds require a minor wavier. 18 + require a background check. All must complete a self paced orientation and quiz. One time volunteers do not require a background check.
For questions or assistance, please contact Patrick Holman-Hart, Family Engagement Supervisor, at pholman@sslc.gov or 385-910-7551.

Requirements
Prior to starting, please see the volunteer requirements below:
- Create an account with Give Pulse here, by clicking the ‘Join’ button, to complete your policy and information exchange. Then let me know what you’re most interested in doing during your volunteering period and the schedule you’d like to follow during that time.
- Read and acknowledge the Promise SSL Volunteer Forms below:
- After reviewing these documents, please complete our online Volunteer Orientation Quiz to acknowledge that you understand the requirements of volunteering with Promise SSL:
- Complete a background check (no cost) if you are 18 and over and volunteering more than once OR have a Minor Waiver signed for those under 18. Please send us a day and time, Monday - Thursday from 9am - 3:30pm, that you will be available to complete this in-person and we can get you scheduled. We will need your legal name for this process (this will be kept private, requesters preferred name will be used outside of this part).
- You will need to bring a valid form of ID, such as a license, state ID, passport, etc.
- Background checks are done at the South Salt Lake Justice Courts located in the same address as SSL City Hall. 220 East Morris Avenue, SSL Utah 84115. Please make sure to enter the entrance marked ‘Justice Courts’ on the far west side of the building. Be aware that as with any Court Building, you’ll need to go through a metal detector, empty pockets, etc. It is also worth noting that on occasion Apple Maps will send you to the SSL Police Department by default rather than City Hall / Justice Courts so be sure to double check your maps if you use Apple.
