Common Violations
Outdoor Storage
Outdoor storage is the storage of miscellaneous materials, tools, furniture, household items, goods, products, and wares, etc, out of doors. No outside storage is permitted on any residential property, except for approved outdoor items. Indoor furniture is not allowed to be used as 'outdoor' leisure furniture. Laundry hung from fences, porches and clotheslines that are visible from the street is prohibited under this code.
Accumulation of Solid Waste/Litter
It is a public nuisance and a violation for any owner or occupant to allow the accumulation, abandonment or storage of trash, junk, and debris on private or public property. This includes areas at fences, wall bases, grassy and planted areas, borders, embankments, sidewalks, strips, gutters, streets and alleys.
Junk Vehicles
Inoperable and unregistered vehicles must be stored in an enclosed structure such as a garage or shed. Any scrap metal, junk, or wrecked vehicle or vehicle part is considered to be outdoor storage/accumulation of solid waste and must be removed. Any abandoned/junk vehicle or a vehicle being repaired or restored is required to be stored in a fully enclosed and non-visible location at all times. Car covers and tarps are not acceptable. An abandoned/junk vehicle is any vehicle which:
- Is inoperable, dismantled, wrecked, or on blocks or similar device; or
- Does not display current tags or license plate; or
- Has a deflated tire and/or broken window(s)
Weeds - Overgrown/Uncontrolled Conditions
Weeds and grass shall be maintained at a height of six inches or less at all times. All land including park strip areas (between sidewalk and curb) and areas adjacent to property such as alleys or easements must remain free of conditions which cause the property to become unsightly. Maintenance of alleys, sidewalks, streets, easements, or rights-of-way is the responsibility of the adjacent property owner.
Parking on Property
Front, side, and back yards are not intended for parking of any vehicles and trailers. Trailers may not be allowed to park on the street unless attached to a licensed, registered, and operable vehicle.
